Ahh....The joys of (double) home ownership...

It has been three weeks in our new home! And although the home is newly built, I am so surprised at all the things we still need to do! Here's what we have done so far:

  • New water softener
  • New gas line to my dryer (I LOVE gas dryers, they are more efficient and dry the clothes better)
  • Main water line out to sprinklers
  • New bath towels, rugs, shower curtains and other misc. items for the bathroom and kitchen
  • New 95% efficient furnace and air conditioner
  • New mailbox
  • Lots of unpacking and organizing
  • New bar stools and dining room table along with other pieces of furniture for the house
  • New blinds for the windows on the back of the house and shutters for the front

And we still haven't started on the yard and fence! Ahh...isn't it great? Actually, it is great. We are really enjoying our new house and we like the neighborhood. For those of you who don't know, our house is in American Fork. It is right by the Mount Timpanogos Temple. Just north east. We have a great view of the temple from the porch and a fabulous view of the mountains in the back of the house. We're really looking forward to the weather warming up so we can get our yard done.

Speaking of "double" home ownership...we had a scare this month when I got my rent check in the mail I noticed it was only half of the normal rent. I called my property manager and he said that the husband had lost his job (which explains the late payment for the previous month) and they were about to evict the family when the husband gave them what he had, which was half the rent, and promised to have the second have by the end of this week. The good news is he found another job so hopefully by the beginning of this month it should be on time. I was a little frustrated with my prop manager not telling me what was going on but I guess it's all fixed now so I never had to worry. I did have a feeling something like that was going on though. So wish our renters luck!

And finally...

Cade got a haircut. I finally realized it was time when his little friend who is a girl had the same haircut as him. They looked like sisters. :) LOL Goodbye long hair!

So cute and congratulations. I hope that you are not double home owners forever, but at least you are now living in a house that you own as opposed to NOT living in a house that you own. I can't wait to see it!

Michelle!

Hey it is Mandy (Dudley) Douglass. It has been so fun looking at your blog and I am so jealous of your house. So someone told me that Joe works for Okland Construction. If that is true, what job is he on and what is he doing for them? I don't know if Joe remembers my husband, but they were in the same program at the Y. Anyway ... Email me and let me know. Tell Joe hi!

Wow, you are scaring me about all the things we are going to be doing to our new house when we get into it!! (Especially, since it is an old one) But, I am so excited for you guys in finally being in your house and getting to start setting it all up!! And Cade looks super handsome with his new haircut.

The house we are buying is in Grand Terrace. It is in the same neighborhood as the Edstroms and Hubbs, but on the other end (it backs up to Barton.) We are excited to be getting into a house that we own. (Although, I will really miss this house we are living in because I really do love it.) And crazy about the scare with your renters!!! The house still looks in good condition from the outside. They look like they are keeping it all up.
